About this service

Game UI translation is different from document translation in three specific ways. First, strings are out of context: a text label of just "Attack" might need to be translated differently depending on whether it is a verb command, a noun describing an action type, or a character ability name. We request screenshots or build access where possible and flag ambiguous strings before beginning. Second, text must fit the allocated space. A button label that works in English may overflow in German or be too short to read in Japanese. We flag string length issues during the review pass. Third, consistency across thousands of strings matters more than in any other translation type. A sword that is called a "longsword" in menu item 47 must still be called a "longsword" in menu item 6,240. We maintain a project glossary from day one. We accept string files in PO, XLIFF, JSON, YAML, and CSV formats. We also handle dialogue scripts and narrative content for RPG and story-driven games where voice acting or closed captions are required.
